New research about greenwashing in Russian’s stores
Today the positioning of goods as eco-friendly is quite widespread among producers in Russia. Nevertheless, most items don’t have recognized ecolabels, but contain some words or phrases like “natural”, “eco” etc.
Express analysis made by Ecounion (GEN member) and students of the Faculty of Sociology of St. Petersburg State University shows that 50% of the products (in 5 categories) in premium stores are marked as eco-friendly, without having an ecolabel. Most “greenwashing” claims (up to 40%) were found in milk product category.
